Are you ready for this year’s Charity Ball?

Written by Cindy Carrillo, President This Thursday, November 5, is Mount Saint Mary’s annual Charity Ball. Every year, an organization is nominated and all proceeds collected during the ball will be donated to the organization selected. This year will be the Max Love Project, which was founded in 2011 and inspired by eight-year-old SuperMax Wilford who is battling brain cancer. “We empower families fighting childhood cancers and related life-threatening conditions with quality of life care, fierce foods, whole-body wellness resources, education and research. We believe that true health starts when families are empowered to be active partners in their child’s healing.” -MaxLove Project via Facebook  Tickets can be purchased beforehand until Wednesday, November 4th in the SGA/Women’s Leadership and Student Involvement Office for $10, or at the door for $12. Neon Dash for Gremlin’s Kids

Written by Tamara Murga, News Editor  Runners, walkers, and dancers of all ages met at the starting line of the Neon Dash 5k in Los Angeles on September 27th to take a stand against bullying. The original nighttime event filled the course with glowing participants, music, foam, UV black light, and entertainment to support the charity, Gremlin’s Kids. Professional MMA Fighter, Danny “The Gremlin” Martinez, started Gremlin Kids, an athlete’s for education nonprofit program to benefit young victims of bullying. The program focuses on building character, self-esteem, and self-confidence by offering a welcoming location for sports, martial arts, and fine arts. “Bullying is everywhere you go, and it makes kids turn away from sports and being confident,” Martinez said on Athletes for Education Foundation’s website. “I want to have a kids program where kids can come and be supportive to each other in anything they do.” In collaboration with Gremlin’s Kids, the live bright tour welcomed hundreds of people to a fun and well-planned 3.1 mile course.
