Mount St. Mary’s students lined up to the smell of kettle corn to celebrate the annual Lighting of the Circle. The event marks the beginning of the holiday season and brings students together for cupcakes and hot chocolate.
“I just think it’s a great way for every one to get together and relax” said sophomore Yasmin Hernandez. It was her first time coming to the event, and she was excited to see the lights turn on.
The school’s student body took months to plan the event.
“The biggest challenge we had was trying to do the most we could with the limited resources we had,” ASB President Sean Balba said. “Despite this, I am very happy with how the event turned out and it was a joy to see smiles on other people’s faces. I really couldn’t have done this without my team and other faulty and staff that were involved.”
Stairs, light posts, and bushes in the circle are now covered in lights, giving the students a joyful place to walk through as they go to class.
